About this service:
A successful articling interview is the final step of the recruitment process, and the key to securing a summer student or articling position. On-campus interviews are used by firms to screen candidates for fit, while in-firm interviews are used to rank you against other top candidates, gauge your interest in the firm, and ultimately decide whether or not to extend you a summer student or articling offer.
Employers use different interview methods, including conversational, behavioral, and substantive. Individual interviewers will also vary in their preferred style – some take a casual approach, while others use challenging questions to test how well you perform under pressure. Most interviewers also assess your tone of voice, body language, and how you present yourself, and all expect you to have thoughtful questions to ask about their firm or your preferred practice area/group.
Our Mock Interview will help prepare you for any scenario, build your confidence, and ultimately increase your chance of securing a position with your preferred employer. Your lawyer-advisor will tailor the interview method and style to help you improve your articling interview skills where you need it most. Following your Mock Interview, your lawyer-advisor will provide feedback to help you improve your responses, tone, speech pattern, and body language.
Your Mock Interview session will consist of a Mock Interview followed by time devoted to feedback. If you prefer to practice the on-campus interview format, we will conduct two short interviews in place of one longer interview.

Frequently asked questions about this service.
How does it work?
Once you purchase your Mock Interview(s), you will gain access to your very own G&G portal, where you’ll complete your profile. Your profile will give us information about which employers you are interested in, as well as which interview method, style, and format you are interested in practicing.
Based on the information in your profile, we will match you with a dedicated lawyer-advisor who we feel is best suited for you. Once matched, you will schedule your interview(s) through your G&G Portal, where you will also select whether you want the interview(s) to take place via phone or online video conference.
Your interview can take place whenever is most convenient for you based on your lawyer-advisor’s available time slots. Feel free to test out the booking system by booking a free consultation with one of our lawyer-advisors.
How will my Mock Interview(s) take place?
We use Zoom to power our online video conference with you, which allows us to talk face-to-face via video, send instant messages, and even share our screens with each other. It all works with a single click, and you can even make a test call before starting.
Please note that while the Mock Interview(s) can be conducted via phone, we highly recommend taking advantage of our online video conference option as this will allow us to assess your non-verbal cues such as body language. Feel free to book a free consultation with one of our lawyer-advisors to see our Zoom video/chat in action!
What happens during my Mock Interview(s)?
The content and types of questions asked during your Mock Interview(s) will vary based on your interests, strengths, weaknesses and the types of employers you’re interested in. However, all Mock Interviews will consist of a 30 minute* articling interview, followed by 30 minutes of feedback from your lawyer-advisor, during which time you can ask any questions you have.
*If you prefer to practice for on-campus interviews, your 30 minute interview can instead consist of two 15-minute interviews to better simulate the style and pace of on-campus interviews.
